Nominations. The nomination for the Awards are drawn from selected Radio Stations in all the ten provinces of Zambia. Radio Station drawn from the 10 Provinces of Zambia participates in the nomination of artists, songs, or albums for a period of 12 months to the closing date of nominations. Participating radio stations are required to have a minimum of three presenters to nominate the artist, song, or album in any given category.
The artists, songs, or albums that receives the highest number of nominations fromall the participating radio stations are considered for the voting stage by the public. Nominations run for a period of 30 days and all nominations are received by the Awards Committee, comprising of 5 members from Sun FM and 14 members from the music and corporate fraternity. The Awards Committee will undertake the preliminary analysis and evaluation of all nominations received, and check conformity to the guidelines for nominations.
Voting. Voting would be done via the website, www.kwachaawards.org and SMS to the provided short code on ZAMTEL, Airtel and MTN, and will run for Six (6) Weeks. The results would be analyzed, computed, and audited by an Auditing firm.
Adjudication. There is established an independent panel of adjudicators drawn from various institutions that have vested interests and experience in music and arts alike. These may include but not limited to the following Institutions or Associations.
• Zambia Arts Adjudicators Panel (ZAAP)
• National Association of Media Arts (NAMA)
• Zambia Music Copyright Protection Society (ZAMCOPS)
• Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM)
• Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA)
• Sun FM Radio (Ex Official)
The Independent panel of adjudicators reviews the nominations and the public vote after an independent Auditor has authenticated the votes. The adjudicators have voting rights on specific technical categories which will also be subjected to public vote to a specific ratio up to a ratio of 60/40.
Committee Members. Committee Members will be drawn from Sun FM, Associations, and the Music fraternity. Also incorporated in the committee are members from sponsors and other stake holders of similar interest.
